A Heavy Week Ahead for the Authorities: Tense Days Anticipated
According to the "Jhoghovurd" newspaper, the upcoming week will be challenging for the authorities. The government has scheduled an extraordinary session of the National Assembly on Monday, April 13, and starting from Tuesday, April 14, the regular session of the National Assembly will commence. During this session, a decision will be made regarding whether to extend or end the state of emergency declared in Armenia.
The newspaper attempted to clarify with governmental sources what the lawmakers know about the potential extension or termination of the state of emergency in Armenia. It became clear that even within the ruling team, there is uncertainty about what to expect. Several calculations still need to be made to determine whether the spread of the coronavirus is now manageable or if restrictions need to be extended. However, the prevailing opinion is that some restrictions should be lifted if the state of emergency continues.
