Members of the April Committee Surprised by Serzh Sargsyan's Visit: 'Hayots Ashkharh'

«Hayots Ashkharh» reports that the announcement made by the leader of the Republican Party of Armenia (RPA), Serzh Sargsyan, about his intention to attend the investigation committee examining the circumstances of the military actions in April 2016 has taken the committee members by surprise.

Following his statement, the committee members decided to convene yesterday. They prepared questions and strategies for questioning Sargsyan today. It is worth noting that even members of Sargsyan's own team were unaware of whether he would attend, making his decision a surprise for everyone.

We have learned that the committee is considering the option that Sargsyan may attend the proceedings but may refer all questions to Yuri Khachaturov, stating that only Khachaturov is privy to the details. To date, the committee has been unable to clarify anything with Khachaturov, and they have decided to send their questions in writing, requesting at least some responses through that method.

Whether Khachaturov will respond remains to be seen, as the former official is under no obligation to appear before the National Assembly and answer questions.
