Urgent: First Case of Coronavirus Identified in Artsakh
The Ministry of Health of Artsakh has reported that the results of two samples sent to Armenia yesterday have been received today, with one positive and the other negative. This information is provided by the Artsakh information headquarters.
It is important to note that the confirmed case was transferred by ambulance to the Kashatagh medical facility on the morning of April 2, having returned to Artsakh from a location deemed a "virus hotspot." The second citizen tested was a neighbor of the individual returning from Armenia, who was admitted to the same facility on April 4 with symptoms of bronchitis.
Considering that the citizen had been in Mirik village of the Kashatagh region upon returning from Armenia, all 17 individuals who had contact with him were preemptively self-isolated for safety reasons. Currently, these individuals are showing no symptoms.
After identifying the possible contacts of the confirmed case, the Artsakh Center for Epidemiology and Hygiene carried out necessary disinfection operations in the homes of the self-isolated citizens a few days ago. It should be noted that the location is 39 km away from the regional center and 89 km from the capital.
Following the isolation of the citizen, the area has remained under control. To avoid false and unverified news, we again urge everyone to follow the official news presented through the information headquarters of the interagency commission coordinating the efforts against the spread of the new coronavirus in the Republic of Artsakh.
