Artsakh's Central Election Commission Sets Date for Presidential Election Runoff

On April 14, the second round of presidential elections will take place in Artsakh. This information was announced by the Chairperson of the Central Election Commission, Serbuhie Arzumanyan, during today’s meeting. The meeting discussed and approved the timeline for the preparations and conduct of the second round of the presidential elections.

According to the timeline, the start of the election campaign is set for April 9, 2020. A draw was held during the meeting to determine the order of candidates' names on the ballot. The results showed that the candidates will appear on the ballot in the following order: 1. Mayilyan Masis Samveli, 2. Harutyunyan Arayik Vladimiri.

“Based on the provisions of Article 76, Part 6 of the Artsakh Electoral Code, the Central Election Commission summarized the results of the presidential and National Assembly regular elections held on March 31, 2020, and decided that there were no violations of the Artsakh Electoral Code during the preparation and voting processes that could have affected the election results,” reported the CEC's press service.

The second group of questions discussed at the meeting concerned the National Assembly elections. In accordance with Article 120, Part 1, Item 1 of the Artsakh Electoral Code, the Central Election Commission decided to consider the National Assembly elected based on the results of the nationwide elections held on March 31, 2020.

The distribution of parliamentary mandates is as follows: 1) The electoral list of the “Free Homeland - QMD” alliance received sixteen mandates, 2) The electoral list of the “United Homeland” party received nine mandates, 3) The electoral list of the Artsakh “Justice” party received three mandates, 4) The electoral list of the Armenian Revolutionary Federation received three mandates, 5) The electoral list of the Artsakh Democratic Party received two mandates.
