Armenian Citizen Charged with Attempted Rape of Russian Resident

The Investigative Committee of Armenia's Chief Department of Investigation of Particularly Important Cases has reported that a citizen of Armenia has been charged with attempted rape against a resident of Russia.

According to the investigation, while engaged in seasonal work in Sevastopol, Russia, on June 20, 2018, at around 01:55, the Armenian citizen encountered an acquaintance of his, a Russian resident, near the turn leading to the second Ogorodny Alley of the 'Vesna' gardening company in the Balaklavsky district. He approached her and attempted to engage in sexual relations with her.

The Russian resident screamed and called for help, prompting the man to flee the scene before he could complete his criminal act. Based on the collection of evidence obtained during the preliminary investigation, the individual has been charged under Article 34-138, Part 1 of the Criminal Code of Armenia. As a preventive measure, a non-leaving signature has been imposed on him.

The preliminary investigation has been completed, and the criminal case has been sent to the prosecutor overseeing the legality of the preliminaries with an accusatory conclusion.

Notice: The suspect or accused in the alleged crime is considered innocent until proven guilty in accordance with the law, through a legally enforced court verdict.
