New Expert Trials to be Conducted in the Case of Hayk Harutyunyan's Suicide

According to information from the newspaper 'Haykakan Zhamanak,' six months after the suicide of former police chief and suspect in the March 1 case, Hayk Harutyunyan, the Investigative Committee has decided to appoint new expert evaluations in the criminal case. As per our information, psychological and psychiatric expert evaluations have been designated.

What has prompted the appointment of these evaluations? Apparently, the body has recently invited several individuals for questioning regarding Hayk Harutyunyan's suicide, who have reported that he was depressed and distressed by the events happening around him. With witness testimonies in hand, the investigative body is compiling all the materials and, as is customary, presenting them to the experts.

The investigator posed a question to the expert, asking whether these issues could have driven Hayk Harutyunyan to commit suicide. It is not excluded that experts, when reviewing the testimonies presented by the investigators, provided a negative response. By appointing these expert evaluations, the investigative body seems to be attempting to resolve a deadlock.

The newspaper 'Haykakan Zhamanak' reached out to the RA Investigative Committee to verify this information, to which Rima Yeghanyan, the head of the committee's press office, responded: 'In order to ensure the comprehensiveness and completeness of the pre-trial investigation, a posthumous psychological evaluation has been appointed, and the conclusion has yet to be received. The pre-trial investigation is ongoing,' the newspaper reports.
