Information on Phone Calls is Already Kept by Telecom Operators: Badasyan
During an extraordinary session of the National Assembly today, the Minister of Justice presented details on the project to fix people's phone calls, proposed by the government. He stated that this information is already being collected.
According to Rustam Badasyan, telecom operators are independently collecting and storing the information about phone conversations without state intervention. The minister noted that the current proposal is to consolidate this information to prevent the spread of coronavirus in emergency conditions.
One of the My Step faction members suggested that this means the opposition does not see an issue with private companies collecting data, but when the government does, they have concerns. The Minister of Justice said that he understood it that way.
