I Am Amazed at the Diligence with Which You Are Trying to Justify This Outrageous Legislative Initiative: Marukyan
The National Assembly's Luys grup (LHK) faction opposes the government's ability to monitor people's phone calls. The government and ruling party lawmakers argue that this would enable tracking the spread of coronavirus and implementing measures.
“I am amazed at the diligence with which you are trying to justify this outrageous legislative initiative. Furthermore, you are justifying it in conditions where your faction's proposals have been rejected... That is, the government has rejected 'My Step' proposals, and 'My Step' comes and justifies that this is a good thing,” said LHK faction leader Edmond Marukyan, addressing his ruling party colleagues during today’s session of the National Assembly.
Moreover, he noted that the head of the healthcare committee insisted that this regulation would have a zero effect on preventing the spread of the pandemic. In these circumstances, according to Marukyan, the “underlying control remains.”
