Vanadzor Resident Opens Fire on Two Fellow Citizens and Flees the Scene
On March 24, 2020, a report was received regarding shots being fired in the vicinity of the intersection of Nersisyan and Arapnhya streets in Vanadzor around 7:30 PM, directed towards two residents of the same city. As a result, one individual sustained gunshot wounds to the front abdominal wall and left arm, while the other suffered injuries to the back of the chest. This information was provided by the Investigative Committee.
A criminal case has been initiated at the Lori Regional Investigative Department of the RA Investigative Committee under Article 34-104 (attempted murder) and Article 235 (illegal acquisition, sale, storage, transportation, or carrying of firearms, ammunition, explosives, or explosive devices) of the RA Criminal Code.
The investigation revealed that the alleged perpetrator is also a resident of Vanadzor, who, during a dispute, opened fire towards the two fellow citizens with a firearm that he had previously acquired illegally, with the intent to unlawfully deprive them of life. He then fled the scene in a vehicle.
Urgent investigative and other procedural actions have been carried out, including an examination of the crime scene, where fired cartridges and bullets were found. Based on sufficient evidence obtained, a decision was made to involve him as a suspect under parts 1 of Article 34-104 and Article 235 of the RA Criminal Code.
A search warrant has been issued for him, and a motion has been submitted to the court to select detention as a preventive measure. The preliminary investigation is ongoing.
