Statement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Ceasefire Violations by the Adversary
We strongly condemn the attempts by Azerbaijan to escalate the situation along the Armenian-Azerbaijani border, which have resulted in injuries to a 14-year-old resident of the Voskevan community in Tavush Province. At the same time, during the attempt to prevent a diversionary infiltration by Azerbaijan toward Armenian positions in the same area, two servicemen of the Armed Forces of Armenia were injured.
This unprovoked violation of the ceasefire has no justification, especially today when the medical resources of all countries around the world are mobilized to combat the new type of coronavirus. Through these actions, Azerbaijan disregards the calls from the international community, particularly from the co-chairs of the OSCE Minsk Group and the Secretary-General of the United Nations, to unequivocally maintain the ceasefire during this period and refrain from provocative actions.
This military incident indicates either that the Azerbaijani side does not control the actions of its armed units at the border, or it is deliberately escalating the situation, bearing full responsibility for the consequences. We wish a speedy recovery to our citizens who have been affected by these actions.
