Defense Ministry Spokesperson on the Situation in the Armed Forces and a Soldier Infected with Coronavirus
In the last twenty-four hours, sampling has been conducted for testing the presence of coronavirus. As a result of the testing, one soldier has been diagnosed with the virus. The soldier had been previously isolated. This was reported by the spokesperson for the Ministry of Defense of Armenia, Shushan Stepanyan.
The confirmed total of six cases is linked to an initial case recorded in a unit not involved in combat duties. The soldier has been hospitalized, and his health condition is assessed as satisfactory. No new isolations have occurred.
At the same time, as Defense Minister David Tonoyan mentioned during a government extraordinary meeting, dozens of soldiers who returned to the homeland from foreign missions, as well as those isolated due to the initial case, have returned to duty following appropriate epidemiological testing and are continuing to fulfill their responsibilities.
Service in the Armenian Armed Forces continues normally, and there are no issues of concern.
