100,000 Dram Provided to Pregnant Women Without Jobs
The government will provide a one-time benefit of 100,000 AMD to unemployed pregnant women whose husbands were laid off between March 13 and March 30, 2020.
Minister of Labor and Social Affairs Zaruhi Batoyan, presenting the initiative, stated, "The beneficiary of the measure is the pregnant woman who, as of March 30, 2020, has no job and whose husband was laid off between March 13 and March 30, 2020, and has not found another job during that period."
Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan noted that there may be instances where the pregnant woman's husband has passed away for any reason during this period, and in this case, she too should receive support.
Human Rights Defender Arman Tatoyan pointed out another scenario where a woman may have left her husband due to domestic violence and is living alone. The Prime Minister emphasized that such nuances should not be overly emphasized, as it could open the door to certain abuses.
