New National Football Team Coach Caparros Impressed by Yerevan

The newly appointed coach of the Armenian national football team, Joaquin Caparros, is impressed by Yerevan. In an interview with Spanish Marca, the coach spoke about his goals in Armenia.

"I remember Armenia from Eurovision, as we received a lot of points (laughs). I am impressed by Yerevan. It is a safe and happy city. As for football, there is an academy here with about 10 training grounds. Our main goal is to participate in the World Cup," he said.

The Spanish coach also talked about how he sees his work with the Armenian national team, emphasizing that he will work with 35-40 players who have never played in other European leagues. "I have been told that players in Armenia wear the national team jersey with great pride and responsibility. We have many similarities in this regard," the Spaniard highlighted.

Caparros also addressed his health condition, noting that he feels good (it should be mentioned that Caparros has leukemia).

Joaquin Caparros was born on October 15, 1955, in the Spanish city of Utrera. He is well-known for his coaching roles at Athletic Bilbao, Deportivo, and especially Sevilla. He holds the record for the most matches managed at Sevilla FC. In 2019, Caparros was awarded the Gold Medal of the Province of Sevilla.
