Italians in Quarantine Sing from Their Balconies
In Italy, where the number of coronavirus cases is the highest after China, people are singing from their balconies to boost the spirit of the nation.
It is reported that Italy has recorded a staggering number of fatalities in just one day due to the virus, with 250 lives lost, bringing the total death toll in the country to 1,266. This was announced by Angelo Borrelli, the head of the Civil Protection Department.
Since the outbreak began, the total number of infected in Italy has reached 17,660, with 14,955 currently undergoing treatment and 1,439 having recovered. The average age of the victims exceeds 80 years. The rate of virus transmission continues to remain high.
Experts estimate that 20 percent of the world's coronavirus deaths are attributed to Italy. The outbreak in the country began on February 21.
