Vache Gabrielian to Become Central Bank President?
'Fact' newspaper reports that recently there was speculation that former Deputy Prime Minister Vache Gabrielian might become the rector of Yerevan State University, but both Gabrielian and the Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sports denied this information.
However, in recent days, whispers have circulated in the corridors of the government that Gabrielian may soon be appointed as the President of the Central Bank.
As is known, Arthur Javadyan's second term as the acting president of the Central Bank will end in July 2020, after which he can no longer be re-elected, as the law does not allow it. It should be noted that Gabrielian was previously a member of the Board of the Central Bank and later served as the Deputy President of the Central Bank.
To clarify this information, we called Vache Gabrielian. 'This is the first time I'm hearing about it,' Mr. Gabrielian said. Notably, as a main candidate for the Central Bank president, the candidacy of Deputy Prime Minister Mher Grigoryan is also being discussed.
