Court Accepts Arthur Vanetsyan's Lawsuit Against 'Haykakan Zhamanak' Newspaper

The Court of General Jurisdiction of Yerevan has accepted the lawsuit filed by Arthur Vanetsyan, the former Director of the NSS of Armenia, against the 'Haykakan Zhamanak' newspaper.

Judge A. Pilosyan, in his decision on February 21, stated, “Having reviewed the petition and the accompanying documents, I find that they comply with the requirements set forth in Articles 121 and 122 of the Civil Procedure Code of the Republic of Armenia; thus, the lawsuit should be accepted for proceedings,” according to Pastinfo.

As previously reported, representatives of former NSS Director Arthur Vanetsyan have filed a lawsuit against the 'Haykakan Zhamanak' newspaper, demanding the retraction of defamatory information contained in an article titled “Do I have Honor or Not...”, the article's removal, and the publication of a retraction text, as well as compensation for non-material damages. The contested article accused the former NSS director of organizing the publication of discrediting materials against the family of Prime Minister Pashinyan.

It was later revealed that the lawyers had contacted the newspaper's editorial board with a demand for retraction. The media outlet did not publish the retraction within the stipulated timeframe, prompting the legal team to file a lawsuit.
