Air Communication Between Iran and Armenia to be Halted for Two Weeks, Entry via Meghri Border Point Stopped - Nikol Pashinyan

The government will make an extraordinary decision to halt communications with the Islamic Republic of Iran for two weeks. This was stated by Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan on his Facebook page.

“Dear compatriots, based on Article 16 of the Law on the State Border of the Republic of Armenia, which concerns the temporary suspension of communication across the state border during the threat of infectious diseases, the government will make an extraordinary decision to halt communications with the Islamic Republic of Iran for two weeks. Specifically, air communication between Iran and Armenia will be suspended, and entry into Armenia through the Meghri border point will be stopped.

I also inform you that tomorrow morning there will be a meeting of the commission for the prevention of the spread of coronavirus, during which we will discuss our next steps, possible scenarios, and measures stemming from them. This commission has been in operation since January 31.

In any case, I believe it is important to emphasize that there is no basis for spreading panic. Such actions are harmful in every case,” he noted.
