Turkey Proposes Purchase of Patriot Systems to the U.S.

Turkey has approached the United States with a proposal to purchase U.S.-made Patriot air defense systems. According to Turkey’s state news agency Anadolu, the U.S. has not yet made a decision regarding the sale of Patriot missiles, reports ermenihaber.

A Anadolu reporter interviewed an American official regarding the proposal. “We are aware that we have received an offer for the purchase of Patriot systems, but as you can see, no decision has been made yet,” stated the American official.

When asked by the journalist about when Ankara had submitted the proposal to Washington, the American official did not provide specific information, instead remarking that it was done “recently.”
