Stray Dogs Recognize Shelter Staff by Scent and Disappear Upon Approach: Zohrabyan
NA member from the Prosperous Armenia Party, Naira Zohrabyan, wrote on her Facebook page: "I receive video footage and lengthy texts daily stating that stray dogs are now a serious threat to residents and that I am to blame for having legally prohibited shooting these animals with a Kalashnikov.
After patiently explaining several hundred times that the law I authored has nothing to do with aggressive and attacking dogs, I realized I either had to make a public statement or become the director of the 'Stray Animal Neutralization Center.'
So once again, listen dear ones, my relatives, and my esteemed ones. The amendment we proposed to the Criminal Code regulates the issue of intentionally, I repeat intentionally, intentionally injuring or killing an animal. Pay attention once more to the word 'intentionally.' This means to take a Kalashnikov from your shelf and intentionally shoot the animal. That's it. This law does not have any other 'sins.'
Therefore, dear ones and my relatives, those letters and video snippets should be sent to the mayor and to the municipal 'Stray Animal Neutralization' organization, which has the immediate obligation to collect stray dogs, sterilize them, or euthanize them humanely. This organization receives huge sums for this purpose.
Yesterday, our council members unexpectedly visited the 'Stray Animal Neutralization' center and not a single dog was present there as a sample. And do you know what they were told? Be careful not to fall. They said that stray dogs recognize the shelter staff by scent and disappear as soon as they approach them.
So I invite all of you, dear ones, my relatives, and esteemed people, let’s unite; I will fight with you so that the municipality and the organization under it, whose director earns 850,000 drams, do their job and not try to cover up their inaction by blaming the law and me. It's not going to happen.
By the way, this organization issued a statement yesterday, as mentioned in the statement, again be careful not to fall: 'according to the latest incidents related to bites'. Apparently, yes, more bites.
