Not Everyone Is Given General Epaulettes: Norayr Norikyan
Lawyer Norayr Norikyan wrote on his Facebook page: “Not everyone is given general epaulettes.
1. On July 5, 2019, the former director of the National Security Service, Arthur Vanetsyan, was awarded the rank of Major General. 71 days later, he was released from his position.
2. On July 5, 2019, the former head of the Police of Armenia, Valeri Osipyan, was awarded the rank of Major General. 73 days later, he was released from his position.
3. On July 5, 2019, the head of the State Protection Service, Grigor Hayrapetyan, was awarded the rank of Major General. 100 days later, he was released from his position.
4. On January 27, 2020, the former head of the Military Police of the Ministry of Defense, Arthur Baghdasaryan, was awarded the rank of Major General. 23 days later, he was released from his position.
It is assumed that these individuals received their general insignias for good performance and were dismissed due to poor performance. In my opinion, wearing general epaulettes should be an immense honor and dream for every soldier, for which they must have years of merits and appropriate qualifications.
Those who wear these epaulettes should serve as examples for junior officers, embodying the image of a soldier, commander, and hero of the homeland.
And seriously, not everyone is given general epaulettes.”
