Messi and Hamilton Receive Laureus World Sports Awards 2019

The winners of the 2019 Laureus World Sports Awards are two athletes. At the awards ceremony held in Berlin, Germany, for the first time in history, a representative of a team sport was honored with the title of 'World Sportsman of the Year.' This award was given to Argentine forward Lionel Messi of FC Barcelona and Formula 1 driver Lewis Hamilton. The 'World Sportswoman of the Year' is Simone Biles, a multiple Olympic champion and member of the USA gymnastics team. The 'Best Team' award went to the South African national rugby team.
