Arayik Harutyunyan Hosts Wrestling European Championship Medalists

The Minister of Education, Science, Culture, and Sports of the Republic of Armenia, Arayik Harutyunyan, today hosted the medalists of the Wrestling European Championship and representatives of the Armenian Wrestling Federation.

Grisha Tamrazyan, the Deputy Minister of Education, Science, Culture, and Sports, was also present at the meeting.

Minister Harutyunyan congratulated the medalists and thanked them for bringing pride to everyone with their victories. “I congratulate all of us on the medals achieved at the European Championship. This result is very encouraging ahead of the Olympic Games. I am confident that we will achieve even greater successes in the near future. This is an Olympic year, so we are gearing up for battle,” said Minister Arayik Harutyunyan.

He inquired about the training and competition processes, as well as any existing challenges, and assured that the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture, and Sports will take all necessary steps to elevate the development of wrestling in the republic to a higher level. “The ministry will not interfere in the internal processes of the federation; it will only support and encourage the achievement of good results,” Harutyunyan concluded.

The attendees also raised their concerns and discussed the preparations for the Olympic Games to be held in Tokyo. Harutyunyan promised to be alongside the athletes and to make state support increasingly targeted year by year.

The athletes expressed their gratitude to the minister for the reception and noted that they will continue to do everything possible to uphold the sporting honor of Armenia.

It is noteworthy that Arthur Aleksanyan and Gevorg Garibyan became champions at the European Championship held in Rome, while Karapet Chalyan, Karen Aslanyan, and Arsen Harutyunyan won bronze medals.
