‘Favipiravir’: Japanese Company Starts Production of Coronavirus Medication

A production of the medication 'Favipiravir' has commenced in China's Zhejiang province, reportedly effective in the fight against the coronavirus, according to Chinese specialists.

The drug is an experimental antiviral agent active against multiple types of RNA viruses and was developed by the Japanese company Toyama Chemical. The production is being carried out by Zhejiang Hisun Pharma, which has already received approval to market the medication.

Prior to the release of the medication, clinical trials were conducted in China involving 70 patients, during which the drug demonstrated effective results on those affected.

As of now, the coronavirus has claimed 1,776 lives, with a total of at least 71,334 infections reported. So far, 11,040 individuals have recovered, while 58,518 remain infected, including 11,298 in severe or critical condition.
