Many Will Be Caught by Surprise in a Very Short Time: Lawyer of Davit Movsisyan
The court's decision on the preventive measure of arrest for Davit Movsisyan, who is accused in the criminal case regarding the death of conscript Vahram Mkrtich Avagyan, was appealed to the Court of Appeal of the Republic of Armenia on February 10. This was reported in an interview with NEWS.am by Davit Movsisyan's lawyer, Gor Gevorgyan.
“Any lawyer who takes that decision will conclude that it is arbitrary and illegal. Davit does not accept the charges brought against him. If we look at what this charge has been based on, I can say that it is the result of a legal fantasy. I am confident that many will be caught by surprise in a very short time because legally we are dealing with pure ‘bespredel’, as I can’t call it otherwise. In short, we have a very unfortunate situation where, in the literal sense of the word, criminal law and proceedings are trampled upon, as I can’t comment on this any other way,” he said in an interview with the news agency, noting that the decision to arrest is unsubstantiated and unfounded.
The lawyer stated that Davit had maintained good relations with the deceased serviceman Vahram Avagyan, and there had been no conflict or dispute that could have led to such a serious outcome.
It is worth recalling that earlier reports indicated that on January 30, 2020, at around 1:15 PM, conscript Vahram Mkrtich Avagyan had died in the N military unit of the RA Armed Forces' training center. Colleagues of Mkrtichyan, Davit Arakelyan Movsisyan, Khachik Armeni Gasparyan, and Spartak Artur Avetisyan, were arrested in connection with the investigation into the soldier's death.
