“Different military units are being visited, we are not advertising ourselves,” says the Chief of Military Police
The Chief of the Military Police of Armenia, Arthur Baghdasaryan, addressed the allegations regarding his close relations with former MP of the Republican Party of Armenia, Arakel Movsesyan, in an interview with the ‘Hayots Ashkharh’ newspaper. He responded to claims that he had ensured that a complaint involving Movsesyan’s son, Davit Movsesyan, did not receive due process.
Baghdasaryan stated, “The Defense Ministry had issued an official statement regarding the incident, confirming that the Military Police had acted in accordance with the law. We take every soldier's case very seriously; all soldiers are equal to us. I have met Arakel Movsesyan only during events organized by the National Assembly or the Union of Armenian Volunteers; there are no other relations.”
He further emphasized, “Let me add, we are not advertising ourselves, but employees of the Military Police are visiting various military units these days. Please do not associate these visits with any incidents. I also will be going to the Defense Army for three days, which I repeat, should not be connected to the recent events; it is part of our daily work.”
“Moreover, I want to say that the Military Police works with the commanders of military units on issues concerning undisciplined soldiers, and concrete actions are being taken. I apologize, but I cannot say more,” he concluded.
