Prosperous Armenia Party Will Not Participate in Constitutional Amendments Referendum

The Prosperous Armenia Party (PAP) has consistently supported the crucial democratic instrument of direct democracy—referendums. However, we cannot participate in this legally vulnerable process, stated NA Deputy Naira Zohrabyan after the PAP political council meeting, quoting the party leader Gagik Tsarukyan.

Zohrabyan emphasized that since the moment the ruling authorities presented the draft constitutional amendments, they have shifted the issue from a legal plane to a political one, transforming the matter into a destructive conflict of black and white.

"Creating divisions and barricades in our society has always been unacceptable for the PAP. It is time to finally close the chapter on the fruitless confrontation between the old and the new and direct our collective efforts towards creating a more prosperous future for our country and people," said Zohrabyan.

By unanimous decision of all members of the political council, heads of regional structures, and deputies, the Prosperous Armenia Party will not participate in the process of holding a referendum on the constitutional amendments.
