Investigator Challenges Prosecutor's Directive in Ara Babloyan Case
The investigator handling the case of former National Assembly President Ara Babloyan and former Deputy Chief of Staff Arsen Babayan has submitted an objection against the directive from the supervising prosecutor.
In response to a question from "Azatutyun" about whether the charges against Babloyan and Babayan changed after the prosecution received the case a few days ago, the Special Investigative Service stated that they have currently submitted an objection, seeing no grounds to fulfill the prosecutor's recommendation.
The prosecutor had suggested modifying the charges against the two defendants. It is worth noting that on February 10, the Prosecutor General's Office had, for the second time, failed to confirm the charges against Ara Babloyan and Arsen Babayan, and the supervising prosecutor sent the case back to the Special Investigative Service for further examination. The prosecutor deemed it necessary to change the charges brought against the defendants and to introduce new accusations against them.
