Charges Filed Against Head of Jambarak Police Department for Extracting Testimony with a Hammer

Charges have been filed against the head of the Jambarak Police Department in connection with a criminal case involving the extraction of testimony using a hammer and gas masks. Gohar Abrahamyan, an adviser to the Attorney General of Armenia, addressed this case on his Facebook page, stating:

“This case is still at the pre-investigation stage, and final legal assessments will be made later. In general, the approach of the European Court of Human Rights is clear: there can be no statute of limitations for confirmed and proven cases of torture. However, the judicial practice in Armenia operates on a somewhat different logic, and this still remains an issue.”
