Syunik Regional Administration Urges Not to Take Risks and Avoid Traveling on Goris-Sisian Road
The Syunik Regional Administration has issued a statement informing that due to severe snowfall since the evening of February 11, the Goris-Sisian section of the M2 interstate highway remains closed.
“It is advised not to take risks and avoid traveling on the mentioned road. Road construction companies are ready to begin clearing operations as soon as the snowfall stops; however, it is currently impossible to work on the road due to strong winds. The RA Traffic Police and Emergency Situations Ministry employees continue to monitor the road around the clock, and the emergency services of the medical centers in Sisian and Goris are operating in an enhanced mode to be on-site if necessary,” the administration stated.
“We also inform that representatives of the Syunik Regional Administration, along with the mayors of Goris and Sisian, are currently on-site conducting regular inspections and are prepared to assist citizens stranded on the road in need of support. While people are informed not to continue their journey and these agencies are ready to provide citizens with shelter and food, many continue to travel. We once again urge everyone to exercise caution and to continue their journey only after weather conditions improve. Citizens in need of assistance can contact the Syunik Regional Administration as well as the municipal administrations of Goris and Sisian,” the administration reported.
