Correctional Facilities Upgraded with Modern Security Measures

The Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Armenia has acquired and installed "RAPISCAN ORION 920 CX" brand security X-ray machines across all 12 correctional facilities. Additionally, "SECUPLUS" brand transitional and handheld portable detectors (metal detection devices) have been implemented. With the use of these new devices, inspections of packages and individuals entering the restricted areas of correctional facilities are conducted considerably faster, more efficiently, and reliably.

The Public Relations Department of the Penitentiary Service of Armenia reports that the modernization with these state-of-the-art devices significantly reduces the occurrences of prohibited items, including narcotics, infiltrating correctional facilities. Furthermore, the innovative devices aim to minimize human intervention during the inspection processes, thereby contributing to the exclusion of corruption risks.

By acquiring next-generation technical devices and utilizing them alongside previously operational equipment within the correctional facilities, it has become possible to increase the number of monitoring points, enhancing the level of security and oversight within the institutions. The technical modernization and upgrading of correctional facilities will be an ongoing process.
