Defense Minister Tonoyan Ordered Inspections in Military Units
According to the newspaper 'Zhoghovurd', tragic incidents in the military are occurring in succession, raising serious concerns. On February 9, it was reported that serviceman Valeri Petrosyan had suddenly passed away. According to information from 'Zhoghovurd', the deceased soldier had visited the medical point of his unit two days prior and reported that he was not feeling well. However, the medical point denies these claims, and there is no record in the unit's registry indicating that the soldier sought medical assistance.
Reports indicate that law enforcement has confirmed that the soldier did not have any restrictions at the time of conscription, implying that he had no health issues according to official medical conclusions. Notably, this death marks the eighth fatality from January 1 to February 9 of this year, with soldiers not having died from enemy fire but rather in peacetime under various circumstances.
Furthermore, according to information received by the newspaper, following these incidents in the military, Defense Minister David Tonoyan has tasked one of the deputy ministers with conducting inspections in military units and carrying out surprise visits. However, the process has somewhat slowed down due to tense relations between the Ministry of Defense and the Armed Forces. In this context, it is reportedly difficult to find any representative from the Armed Forces General Staff capable of coordinating activities with the Ministry of Defense.
