Blizzard on Goris-Sisian Road: Conditions in Armenia
The Ministry of Emergency Situations reports that as of February 11 at 20:00, there are closed and difficult-to-navigate roads across Armenia.
The following roads are closed: the Ishkhanasar-Goris road in Syunik Province and the roads leading to Amberd Fortress and Kari Lake in Aragatsotn Province. The Vardenyats Pass is closed for trucks with trailers and is difficult for other vehicles.
There is currently a blizzard on the Goris-Sisian road. The road from Goris to Harjis is closed for all types of vehicles. The Sotk-Karvachar road is difficult to navigate.
Black ice is present in some areas of the roads in Kotayk, Gegharkunik, Lori, Syunik, and Shirak provinces, as well as on the Vayk-Saravan road in Vayots Dzor Province, and on the inter-community roads of Aparan and Aragats in Aragatsotn Province.
Regarding Lars, according to information received from the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia's Emergency Management Service and the Crisis Management Center of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Russian Federation's North Ossetia, the Stepantsminda-Lars road is closed only for trucks with trailers, while it is open for other vehicles. According to the information from the Russian side, over 1000 trucks are currently accumulated on their side.
