Roads Closed and Impassable in Armenia

The Ministry of Emergency Situations of Armenia has announced that as of February 10 at 19:15, several roads across the country are closed and impassable.

The roads leading to the Amberd Fortress and the Kariu Lake in the Aragatsotn Province are closed, as well as the Martiros-Serz road in Vayots Dzor and the Abovyan-Jraber road in Kotayk.

The Vardenyats Pass and the Saravan-Zanger section are closed to heavy vehicles; for other vehicles, the roads are difficult to pass due to blizzard conditions. The chain twists of Chayni, the Jermuk-Gndevaz route, the Sotk-Karavajar road, and the inter-community roads in the Aragatsotn Province connecting Aparan and Aragats are also difficult to navigate.

Black ice is present on the roads in the provinces of Kotayk, Gegharkunik, Lori, Shirak, and Syunik.

According to information from the emergency situation departments of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia and the Ministry of Emergency Affairs of Russia's North Ossetia, the Stepantsminda-Lars road is closed for all types of vehicles. The Russian side reports a backlog of 1,098 vehicles, including 950 trucks and 148 passenger cars.
