Nver Shahbazyan, the Only Child Trapped Under an Avalanche, Had Decided to Serve His Country
Nver Shahbazyan, a 24-year-old contracted serviceman, was the only child of his family who tragically died under an avalanche on February 7 in the Syunik region. He had left his job as a waiter to join the armed forces. This was shared by Nver’s uncle in an interview with NEWS.am.
“He was a smart and compassionate young man. Before becoming a contracted serviceman, he worked as a restaurant waiter and had never received any complaints. He decided that he wouldn't work as a waiter for his whole life; he wanted to go and serve his country, and that’s what happened. It’s so tragic that he, being the only child, lost his life,” Nver’s uncle recounted.
According to the Ministry of Defense, several days ago, search and rescue operations led to the discovery of several contracted servicemen who were trapped under the avalanche: Private Karapet Sedraki Nazaryan (born in 1991, in the armed forces since 2018, from Kashatagh), Junior Sergeant Tigran Armeni Arzumanyan (born in 1994, in the armed forces since 2018, from Syunik), and Junior Sergeant Nver Tigrani Shahbazyan (born in 1995, in the armed forces since 2018, from Syunik).
Another contracted serviceman, Private Hamlet Greniki Mirzoyan (born in 1998, in the armed forces since 2018, from Syunik), was successfully rescued from the snow. The recovered serviceman sustained minor injuries and his health condition is assessed as satisfactory.
