VIDEO: Pickpockets Apprehended

On February 4, officers from the 6th Division of Criminal Investigation of the Yerevan Police Department uncovered two incidents of pickpocketing. The Public Relations Department of the Police of the Republic of Armenia reports that the first incident was registered at the Central Police Station on February 3. Around 2:30 PM, a woman reported that her wallet containing money and bank cards had been stolen from her bag aboard the number 8 minibus hours earlier. An operational team began search activities, joined by the specialists from the Division for Combating Pickpocketing.

Soon, information was received suggesting that the theft might have been committed by a 32-year-old resident of Amiryan Street. On February 4, the suspect was apprehended from Baghramyan Avenue and provided a confession.

The second incident occurred on February 4 in the Arabkir administrative district. Around 2 PM, a wallet containing cash and identification along with bank cards was again stolen from a passenger's bag on the number 27 bus. Thanks to the professional actions of the specialized unit, the theft was uncovered the same day. Officers from the Division for Combating Pickpocketing apprehended a 21-year-old resident of Davitashen from Mashtots Avenue. He also confessed and returned the stolen item.

Materials are being prepared regarding the thefts.
