VIDEO: I Don't Want to Give Any Political Undertones to This, Movsesyan on the Detention of Ruben Hayrapetyan

“I don’t want to give any political undertones to this,” said Deputy Chief of Police Vardan Movsesyan during a briefing with reporters regarding the detention of Ruben Hayrapetyan yesterday.

“Everything has been done within the framework of the law, and I don't want to give any political undertones to this,” he said.

When asked how he feels about Hayrapetyan’s statement that one day he will “clean his feet on them,” the Deputy Chief of Police responded, “Perhaps those remarks were made in an emotional context, but I will respond to such expressions as follows: every legal action must receive its assessment and legislative solution.”

In response to a follow-up question about whether there will be a reaction to this and whether it is considered a threat, the Deputy Chief of Police said, “I cannot evaluate whether it was a threat or not; it could just be an emotional expression, but of course, it’s unacceptable from any individual.”

When asked under what circumstances people are “put on the asphalt” during detentions, Movsesyan stated that actions are carried out within the framework of the law. “There is a measure and form of the use of force, and all of that is provided for by law,” he said.

When asked what the police do if individuals do not resist, Movsesyan replied, “If they do not resist, we do not ‘put them on the asphalt.’”
