Guidelines for Hotels: The AADT Urges Preventive Measures Against the Virus

In Armenia, hotels are urged to implement preventive measures against the coronavirus. The Health and Labor Inspectorate of the Republic of Armenia has published ten guidelines necessary to prevent the spread of the infection.

“Considering that the People's Republic of China is considered an epidemic unfavorable country regarding the infiltration of COVID-19, the AADT calls on the management of hotels in Armenia to take several necessary measures for appropriate epidemiological supervision in the event of patient detection or suspicious cases.

In particular, it is necessary to:

1. Urgently report the situation regarding the patient or suspicious case to the invited physician as per the established procedure.
2. Ensure medical assistance to the patient by the invited physician until the arrival of emergency services.
3. Prohibit unauthorized persons from entering the patient's room (hotel room).
4. Temporarily isolate the patient in the hotel room until hospitalization.
5. Close the doors and windows of the hotel room and turn off the ventilation system.
6. Identify all contacts of the patient within and outside the hotel and compile a list of individuals who have been in contact with the patient.
7. Transport the patient to an infectious disease hospital by ambulance. The use of public transport for patient transfer is prohibited; it should be organized by ambulance or a separate vehicle, and if possible, keep the vehicle windows open during transport.
8. Disinfect surfaces contaminated with cough or other secretions using household disinfectants that contain chlorine. The dilution of the disinfectant should be 1:99 (1 part chlorine solution to 99 parts water).
9. In the event of confirming the infection, prohibit the removal of any items from the patient's room until final disinfection has been carried out.
10. After the patient has been hospitalized, organize and carry out final disinfection in all buildings visited by the patient, after which normal work can resume.
