863 Trucks Accumulated at Lars: Road Conditions in Armenia
The Ministry of Emergency Situations reports that as of February 5 at 12:44 PM, there are closed and difficult-to-navigate roads within the territory of Armenia. The Vardenyats Pass is open for passenger vehicles, but cargo trucks are only permitted if equipped with snow chains. Additionally, the pass is closed for truck and trailer combinations.
The roads leading to Tsovagyugh in Gegharkunik Province and the Sotk-Karvachar route are difficult to navigate due to blizzards. The Artik-Alagyaz road in Shirak Province is similarly compromised.
On various sections of the roads in Syunik Province, the Aragatsotn Province’s Tsaghkadzor region, Kuchak-Aparan, and the Yerevan-Sevan road, there are isolated patches of black ice.
Snow is currently falling in the Saravan-Zanger section, as well as in the cities of Jermuk and Yeghgnadzor in Vayotz Dzor Province, and in regions of Aragatsotn, Kotayk, and Shirak Provinces, except for Ani and Artik regions.
According to information from the Georgian Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Crisis Management Center of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Russian Federation in North Ossetia, the Stepantsminda-Lars road is open for passenger vehicles but closed for trucks. There are currently 863 trucks accumulated on the Russian side, as reported by the Russian Crisis Management Center.
