WHO Urges Public Not to Panic Over Coronavirus

The Director-General of the World Health Organization (WHO), Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, has urged against causing panic regarding the 2019-nCoV coronavirus outbreak, stating that the number of infection cases outside China's borders is "small."

“Ninety percent of the cases are occurring in China. There have been only 176 recorded cases of coronavirus globally. However, this does not mean that the situation will not worsen. But this is a very small number. Do not panic,” he said during the 146th Executive Committee session.

According to a representative from China, the majority of the deaths caused by the virus are among elderly individuals and those who already had one or two chronic illnesses. Outside of China, the death rate from the coronavirus is only 1%.
