Blizzard and Low Visibility on Roads

The Ministry of Emergency Situations informs that as of February 4, at 22:30, there are closed and impassable roads in the territory of Armenia.

The Vardenyats Pass is experiencing a blizzard, while the roads leading to the Upper and Lower Shorja, Airq, and Akhpradzor villages in the Gegharkunik region, as well as the roads to the Amberd Fortress and Kari Lake in the Aragatsotn region, are closed for all types of vehicles.

The Sotk-Karvachar road is also affected by a blizzard, and the Kuchak-Yeghepatrush and Kuchak-Jrambar roads are difficult to traverse for all types of vehicles.

In the Aragatsotn region, roads in the Aparan area and the Sevan-Yerevan highway are experiencing spots of black ice. Snowfall has been reported in Yerevan, in the turns of Tigranashen, in the Aragatsotn, Vayots Dzor regions, and in cities such as Hrazdan in Kotayk, Charentsavan, Sisian and Kajaran in Syunik, as well as in the area known as 'Meghru Sar', in Ashotsk and Maralik regions of Shirak, and in the Saravan-Zanger section (fog is present).

In the Gegharkunik region, a blizzard is affecting roads in the Tsaghkahovit region of Aragatsotn and on the Aparan-Kuchak road. The Yerevan-Sevan highway at the 57km mark and the section leading to Dzovagyugh are also experiencing blizzard conditions and low visibility.

According to information received from Georgia's Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Crisis Management Center of North Ossetia in Russia, the Stepanstminda-Lars road is closed for all types of vehicles. The Russian side has reported a buildup of 550 trucks.
