Rubinyan Shares the Views of PACE Rapporteurs
The Deputy of the National Assembly of Armenia from the 'My Step' faction and the Chairman of the Permanent Committee on Foreign Relations, Ruben Rubinyan, shares the views of the PACE Monitoring Committee's rapporteurs regarding the situation surrounding the Constitutional Court, which was published on January 31.
According to Armenpress, Rubinyan wrote on his Facebook page: 'The rapporteurs express concern about the existing tensions between the Constitutional Court and the Prime Minister's Office. I fully share this view. It is unacceptable when the President of the Constitutional Court becomes a political, I repeat, political (and not legal) opponent to the government, engaging in political activity and causing tensions between these two institutions.'
Rubinyan also agrees with the rapporteurs' stance that the Constitutional Court should be free from all kinds of political pressure from all sides. 'Yes, we need such a court—independent, unpressured, not involved in politically questionable connections, and I am sure that soon we will have such a court,' wrote Rubinyan.
