Son of 'Chvchv Aro' Sentenced to 6 Years and 6 Months in Prison
The Yerevan Court of General Jurisdiction has found the son of Ara Vardanyan, known as 'Chvchv Aro', guilty. Sargis Vardanyan has been sentenced to 6 years and 6 months in prison.
On January 29, Vardanyan's defense lawyer, Lernik Hovhannisyan, informed NEWS.am of the ruling.
Sargis Vardanyan was found guilty under Article 242, Part 3 of the RA Criminal Code.
The measure of restraint was left unchanged as pre-trial detention.
It should be noted that Sargis Vardanyan was charged with causing a fatal traffic accident involving two officers of the Road Police and leaving the scene of the incident.
According to the indictment, on January 8, 2018, at around 04:40, Sargis Vardanyan was driving a BMW car entrusted to him, without a driver's license, with two passengers along Abovyan Street, heading towards Sayat-Nova Avenue, with the headlights on. He was exceeding the speed limit of 60 km/h, driving at 113 km/h, and created a hazardous situation, colliding with a Toyota vehicle belonging to the Road Police, and subsequently crashing into an advertising board before fleeing the scene.
As a result of the accident, the driver of the Toyota, Areg Davtyan, and the passenger, Khachik Gasparyan, were killed due to negligence.
Detention was chosen as a measure of restraint against Vardanyan.
