The Yerevan Court of General Jurisdiction has found the son of Ara Vardanyan, known as 'Chvchv Aro', guilty. Sargis Vardanyan has been sentenced to 6 years and 6 months in prison.

On January 29, Vardanyan's defense lawyer, Lernik Hovhannisyan, informed NEWS.am of the ruling.

Sargis Vardanyan was found guilty under Article 242, Part 3 of the RA Criminal Code.

The measure of restraint was left unchanged as pre-trial detention.

It should be noted that Sargis Vardanyan was charged with causing a fatal traffic accident involving two officers of the Road Police and leaving the scene of the incident.

According to the indictment, on January 8, 2018, at around 04:40, Sargis Vardanyan was driving a BMW car entrusted to him, without a driver's license, with two passengers along Abovyan Street, heading towards Sayat-Nova Avenue, with the headlights on. He was exceeding the speed limit of 60 km/h, driving at 113 km/h, and created a hazardous situation, colliding with a Toyota vehicle belonging to the Road Police, and subsequently crashing into an advertising board before fleeing the scene.

As a result of the accident, the driver of the Toyota, Areg Davtyan, and the passenger, Khachik Gasparyan, were killed due to negligence.

Detention was chosen as a measure of restraint against Vardanyan.
