Research Results on Gasoline and Diesel Fuel Markets Published by the Competition Protection Commission
The results of a study conducted by the Armenian Competition Protection Commission (CPC) in 2019 on the "Gasoline" and "Diesel Fuel" commodity markets have been published. According to the CPC, the study aimed to obtain a comprehensive picture of the competitive situation in these commodity markets, assess the competitive environment during the observed period, identify potential barriers to competition, and present solutions to improve the competitive landscape.
In particular, the study examined the legal regulatory framework, established requirements and potential obstacles, market structure, and pricing policies. The results of the study showed that the composition of participants in the "Gasoline" and "Diesel Fuel" commodity markets changed each year. Specifically, in 2017, four entities imported gasoline, while the number of entities increased by two in 2018. From January 1 to October 1, 2019, the number of entities engaged in imports was five, including "SIPES Oil Corporation," "Flash" LLC, "Max Petrol" CJSC, "Platinum Oil" LLC, and "SIPES Oil" LLC. Regarding the "Diesel Fuel" commodity market, six entities engaged in imports during 2017 and 2018. However, from January 1 to October 1, 2019, the number of participants in this market significantly increased to 18.
