Director of Cultural Center in Tavush Region Strangles Wife and Hangs Her
On January 22, a particularly brutal murder occurred in the Tavush region. At around 5:30 PM, the Tavush Police Department received a report that a woman's body was found hanging in a residence in Chinari.
According to Shamshyan.com, police officers and investigators determined that on the same day, between 1:00 PM and 4:40 PM, preliminary information suggested that a 30-year-old resident of Chinari, Nairuhi A., had committed suicide by hanging herself with a rope from a baby crib in her bedroom.
Upon arrival at the scene, a forensic doctor examined the body and reported that abrasions were found around the face area during the external examination of the corpse. According to G. Shamshyan's information, the police and investigators suspected that this was not a suicide but rather an imitation. They then conducted necessary operational-investigative and combined actions, revealing that at approximately 3:00 PM on January 22, a 31-year-old resident of Chinari, Gevorg Petrosyan, had strangled Nairuhi A. in the bedroom of their house.
A criminal case has been initiated at the Berd Investigation Department under Article 104, Part 1 of the RA Criminal Code. Gevorg Petrosyan has been arrested by a decision of the investigator.
Note: The suspect or accused in the alleged crime is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law, according to the established procedures in the RA Criminal Procedure Code.
