Stabbing Incident in Yerevan Revealed
A case of deliberately causing serious harm to a 39-year-old man's health has been revealed. A 36-year-old man has been charged in connection with the incident. This was reported by the Information and Public Relations Department of the Investigative Committee of Armenia, providing further details.
According to the information, on January 3, 2020, around 21:35, a call was received at the Erebuni Division of the Armenian Police from one of the medical centers in Yerevan, stating that a 39-year-old local resident had been transported for treatment with a diagnosis of "penetrating stab wound to the right side of the chest, bleeding, right-sided hemopneumothorax.”
A criminal case has been initiated at the Erebuni and Nubarashen Divisions of the Yerevan Investigative Department based on part 1 of Article 112 of the Armenian Criminal Code. The 39-year-old man has been recognized as a victim.
As a result of the investigative actions undertaken, it was established that the 39-year-old man sustained the injury on January 3, 2020, around 21:00, during a dispute with his girlfriend’s brother regarding household issues. The brother subsequently voluntarily presented himself to the law enforcement agency a few days after the incident.
Based on the collected sufficient evidence, the 36-year-old man has been charged under part 1 of Article 112 of the Armenian Criminal Code. The investigator has submitted a petition to the court to select detention as a measure of restraint, which was granted, while the court also considered applying an alternative measure of bail.
During the pre-trial investigation, several investigative actions were carried out, evidence was gathered, witnesses were questioned, and the victim's clothing was seized. Forensic medical and biological examinations have been appointed. The pre-trial investigation is ongoing.
