Stabbing Incident in Sari Tag: Charges Filed Against 47-Year-Old Man

The Investigation Committee of Armenia’s Erebuni and Nubarashen administrative districts is currently examining all circumstances surrounding the severe injury of a 40-year-old man in Sari Tag.

On January 1, 2020, at 20:55, a report was received from the "Erebuni" medical center about a man, born in 1979, who was hospitalized due to a diagnosed "stab wound in the epigastric region, penetrating abdominal cavity with liver and stomach damage, stab wound to the left shoulder without penetration into the abdominal cavity."

According to preliminary data, on January 1, 2020, around 20:30, a dispute occurred in front of one of the houses in Sari Tag, during which the alleged assailant first struck the 40-year-old man in the face with his fist and then used a knife to stab him multiple times in various parts of his body, causing severe injuries.

A criminal case has been initiated by the Erebuni division of the police in Yerevan under Part 1 of Article 112 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Armenia, which has been forwarded to the Investigation Committee of Armenia’s Erebuni and Nubarashen administrative districts for further investigation.

The 40-year-old man has been identified as the victim. Throughout the preliminary investigation, several investigative actions have been carried out, including confrontational interrogations and questioning multiple individuals.

As a result of operational-investigative measures, the identity of the alleged perpetrator, a resident born in 1972 from the same neighborhood, was established. He has been arrested on suspicion of causing severe injury to the 40-year-old man. The suspect has presented the knife used in the crime to the investigative body.

During the preliminary investigation, a forensic examination has been ordered to clarify the nature of the victim's injuries, degree of severity, mechanism of occurrence, and several other circumstances.

Based on the collected sufficient evidence, charges have been filed against the 47-year-old resident of Sari Tag under Part 1 of Article 112 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Armenia. A signature not to leave the country has been chosen as a measure of restraint against him.

The investigation is ongoing, and necessary investigative and procedural actions are being taken to clarify all circumstances of the case.
