New Significant Developments Expected Regarding Amulsar

The newspaper 'Zhoghovurd' reports that a 33-page conclusion regarding the exploitation program of the Amulsar mine has been prepared, based on the examination of around 10,000 documents.

According to information from the paper, the investigative committee operating in the National Assembly will hold a meeting soon to discuss this document. Some details have surfaced regarding this conclusion: it claims that previous governments made illegal decisions related to the exploitation of Amulsar.

For instance, according to the Water Code and the Law on Lake Sevan, mineral extraction is prohibited in the watershed area of the lake, and conventions do not allow mining in regions where internationally Red Listed species of animals and birds reside.

Additionally, 'Zhoghovurd' has learned that the investigative committee is currently awaiting a response to its inquiry sent to the State Revenue Committee. Specifically, committee members have inquired why the government granted a 29 billion dram import privilege to 'Lydian Armenia' in 2017, and what has been done with the imported goods, particularly those unrelated to the mining sector.

Thus, new developments regarding the exploitation of the Amulsar mine are expected. Furthermore, according to our sources, 'Lydian Armenia' is currently considering the option of selling the mine exploitation project.

Details will be available in today's issue of the newspaper.
