Video: The Government Will Not Overcome the Poverty of a Person Lying on the Couch, Says Pashinyan
Budget airlines will bring non-luxury segment tourists to Armenia, who are potential customers of small and medium businesses. This was stated today, January 9, at the beginning of a government meeting by Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan.
According to him, the government has exempted microbusinesses from taxes and emphasizes that a field has been created for them where not the government or certain individuals should pay them a specific amount to live well, because that is not possible; instead, a space has been created for them to earn their daily bread through their own ideas and initiatives.
“This is our equation. We are building roads, kindergartens, and other infrastructures to ensure that communication between these potential customers and providers of goods and services occurs as easily as possible. This is the model for living well in Armenia. A non-working person has never lived well in any country and cannot live well. The poverty of a person lying on the couch will not be overcome by the government. That person must at least grab the hand extended by the government and at least get off the couch. In the long term, the formula for living well is education. It is impossible to live well without education and skill, without taking advantage of these opportunities,” stated Pashinyan.
He also addressed economic growth, noting, “For 2019, we expect quite high economic growth, and by 2020, our economic growth indicator should be better than that of 2019. The government must make very serious efforts, but the government's greatest effort is to be guided by a medical principle: first, do not interfere with businesses and entrepreneurs so that they can create results, and where we can help, we will assist in solving their problems.”
