Diana Gasparyan on the Incident at Ejmiadzin School No. 8
As we have already reported, a protest has been ongoing for several days at Ejmiadzin School No. 8. The reason is that both teachers and parents are opposed to the newly appointed principal, Shushan Ghoshkanyan. It is known that over 300 parents have submitted requests to transfer their children to other schools.
Newly appointed principal Shushan Ghoshkanyan previously left her position as the principal of the secondary school in the village of Baghramyan in Armavir Province voluntarily in 2019 under pressure from protests. Parents and teachers note that there is a criminal case against Ghoshkanyan, and therefore, they do not want someone with such a background to hold a leadership position in their school. It is reported that there have been two criminal cases related to the Baghramyan village school.
In the first case, Ghoshkanyan has the status of a suspect, and she has been charged under parts one of Articles 311 and 312 of the Criminal Code, namely, receiving and giving bribes. The case is currently in the preliminary investigation phase.
Auroranews contacted the mayor of Ejmiadzin, Diana Gasparyan, who stated in an interview that although the school does not fall under the control of the city hall, she is personally monitoring the situation and has a clear stance on the issue.
When asked about her position on the current situation and what the main solution to the problem is, Gasparyan responded: 'I believe this should be addressed legally. The matter will be regulated within the framework of the law; everything is under control, and I cannot say anything more.'
