User Spreading Fake News Harmful to National Security of Armenia Identified by NSS

The National Security Service of the Republic of Armenia, pursuing its mandate in the field of information security in accordance with the legislation of the Republic, continues to identify users who publish and disseminate false information on the internet that harms the state, society, and individual safety.

Specifically, on January 3 of this year, a post was published on the Facebook page 'Diana Harutyunyan', claiming that Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan had congratulated the U.S. President regarding actions taken against a senior Iranian military official. This false information was also spread by Azerbaijani and Iranian media.

The dissemination of such content aimed at inciting national, racial, and religious hostility has inflicted significant damage on the national security interests of the Republic of Armenia in the information and propaganda field.

A criminal case has been initiated in the investigative department of the NSS regarding the apparent criminal act, under the relevant articles of the RA Criminal Code, and an investigation is underway. The operator of the fake Facebook page 'Diana Harutyunyan' has been arrested.
